Selling through an outage: designing an offline-first checkout

What happens when the internet drops in the middle of a Saturday rush - and how we designed Infynex POS to keep selling.

Offline-first

Every retailer has a story about the day the internet went down. For most, it ends with a queue out the door and a handwritten list of sales to enter later.

1. Treat offline as normal

Infynex POS stores everything it needs to sell locally - products, prices, taxes and discounts. The checkout never waits for the network.

“We lost connection for four hours on Black Friday. Customers never noticed.”

2. Sync safely when you are back

Every sale gets a unique ID on the device, so it can be sent again and again without ever being counted twice.

  • Card payments queue securely until the network returns
  • Stock levels update across stores within seconds
  • Conflicts are resolved automatically, with a clear audit trail
